FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
NEW YORK, NY, NOVEMBER, 2013 – Mama Shelter, the trendy and affordable hotel chain founded by the Trignano family, Philippe Starck and Cyril Aouizerate, opened in Bordeaux on October 16, 2013 and announced plans to expand to Lille in 2016. Perfect for business, family and young travelers alike, the chain has rapidly expanded from its first hotel in Paris (2008), to Marseille (2012), Istanbul (February 2013), and Lyon (March 2013). Widely considered the hippest hotels in all of France, all Mama Shelter properties are masterminded by French product and interior designer Philippe Starck and boast his the contemporary and avant-garde style that made the original Paris location such a trendsetter.
An ideal setting for Mama Shelter's fifth location, Bordeaux offers the perfect mix of urban diversity and energy along with a strong link to its heritage and patrimony, aspects dear to the brand's values. Located on the Place Saint Christoly, in the heart of the historic city center, the property features 97 rooms as well as a restaurant, pizzeria, cocktail and wine bar, and two meeting rooms. Next summer, a rooftop bar and restaurant will let guests soak in the sun's rays and offer a beautiful view of the bordelais rooftops.
As part of the continuation of Lille's 2004 designation as the European Capital of Culture, the city plans to build a new commercial area at the city's entrance, featuring an elevated promenade overlooking the Henri Matisse Park, gastronomic restaurants, shopping, and the newest Mama Shelter hotel. The hotel will also feature a contemporary bar and restaurant, which will give new life to the neighborhood, located at the Porte de Roubaix and the avenue Le Corbusier.
