FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Terre Blanche Hotel Spa Golf Resort has achieved GEO Certified®, a distinction which recognizes the resort’s eco-friendly approach.
GEO Certified® represents the highest standard of credibility and is an important symbol of great golf environments worldwide.
Acknowledging the golf facilities have met a high level within the areas of nature, water, energy, supply chain, pollution control, and community, the certification highlights the efforts made by the five star resort to fully embrace and continuously improve its ecological impact and sustainability.
The GEO recognition is another significant accolade which highlights Terre Blanche as a top European destination for golf enthusiasts worldwide and showcases the venue’s consistent approach to embracing eco-sustainable projects. The resort’s two 18-hole Championship golf courses are nestled in the countryside of Fayence in Provence, amidst oak forests, valleys, lakes, vineyards and olive groves. The Canal du Verdon exclusively supplies the raw water used to hydrate the courses and green areas. Terre Blanche Golf also reduces its carbon footprint and environmental impacts (visual, acoustic, chemical and energy use) on a daily basis in its management; everything is done to preserve the surrounding natural areas and to develop native biotope.
Marc Geens, independent verifier for GEO Certified, which is administered by the not-for-profit GEO (Golf Environment Organisation) said: “Terre Blanche Golf has clearly taken a lot of effort to respect the natural environment and has introduced internal systems that ensure nature remains unharmed, so that people can enjoy this beautiful Mediterranean landscape.”
Fredrik Lindgren, Head of Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainability at European Tour said: “This is a great achievement for the team at Terre Blanche and we congratulate them on becoming GEO Certified®. The European Tour, through The European Tour Green Drive, is committed to providing sustainability programs that encourages all of our destinations and host clubs to gain this coveted eco-label and demonstrate their commitment to sustainable golf.
In addition to its two award-winning Championship golf courses designed by ex-professional golfer and renowned golf course architect Dave Thomas, the resort, a European Tour Destination, also offers a state-of-the-art training centre dedicated to golfers of all levels and ages. A golfer's paradise delivering the perfect combination of pleasure and performance, Terre Blanche Golf has now been recognized for its commitment to the environment in terms of development and golf’s sustainability movement.
