U.S. travelers have an easier time getting to Martinique in 2014 as American Airlines proposes a more convenient weekly service. American Airlines added a second weekly flight from Miami on Wednesdays to This additional flight complements the existing Saturday flight, allowing more flexibility in travel arrangements. Seaborne Airlines proposes also a 4 times a week flight between San Juan and Martinique. This route, thanks to the interline agreement with American Airlines, allow more possibilities to get to Martinique, for visitors in transit and from Puerto Rico.

The Aimé Césaire Museum was inaugurated on June 26, 2013, on the 100th Anniversary of his birthday, in the presence of French Prime Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault. The office of the former mayor of Fort-de-France has been converted into a museum and enthusiasts can enter Aimé Césaire's world by discovering his souvenirs, personal objects, books, manuscripts and gifts from his admirers.

The CARIFTA Games is an annual athletics competition founded by the Caribbean Free Trade Association (CARIFTA). The games were first held in 1972 and consists of track and field events including sprint races, hurdles, middle distance track events, jumping and throwing events, and relays.
