Renowned and Exclusive Vineyard Château d’Yquem Opens Its Doors

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton S.A. has announced that visits are now possible to its 400-year-old Château d’Yquem vineyard, one of the most celebrated and coveted winemakers in the world, located in Sauternes, Aquitaine, France. Each guided tour will be followed by a tasting (one vintage of Château d’Yquem and one vintage of Y/”Ygrec”) for a maximum of 12 people (tastings will not be allowed for children under 18). During their 90-minute guided tours, visitors will discover, by foot, an estate that places a premium on art and craftsmanship to produce a rare wine. Château d’Yquem’s outstanding terroir in the sauternes appellation is credited to exceptional climate conditions and geological features. “Raised to the ranks of Premier Cru Supérieur appellation in 1855, Château d'Yquem is the product of meticulous work in the vineyard,” LVMH explained in a statement. “Since its beginnings, it has benefited from an exceptional terroir, as well as being the result of a unique ancestral know-how since 1593.” The LVMH group acquired the estate in 1999, with what conglomerate described as “the continued desire to go on writing the legendary Yquem story, both in keeping with tradition and remaining open to modern advances.” The cost of the new Château d’Yquem tours is 60€ including VAT per person (around $70).
