5 Star Marriott Renaissance Hotel in Aix-en-Provence Opening Soon

NEW YORK, NY, OCTOBER 31 – The Marriott Renaissance, Aix-en-Provence will open its doors in spring 2014. Ideally situated only a few minutes from the historic center, this luxury 5 star establishment will offer premium services, targeting French and international business and leisure travelers. Contemporary in its exterior architecture as in its interior design, the hotel Renaissance Aix-en-Provence is in the very heart of the new Sextius-Mirabeau neighborhood, only a few minutes walking distance from the cours Mirabeau and the cultural sites of the city.

This new establishment is the 6th hotel in France with the luxury ʻRenaissanceʼ label from the Marriott Group. Operating as a franchise with 5 investors from the Provence-Alpes-Côte-dʼAzur region including two project developers – Marc Cohen (Primosud) and Stéphane Pérez (Perimmo) as well as Christian Carassou-Maillan who is chairman of the board of the Hotel Renaissance Aix-en-Provence. Occupying a total surface of 10,500m2, the hotel has 7 floors and 133 top of the range rooms including a presidential suite of 74m2, 2 executive junior suites or 44 and 51m2 respectively as well as 6 junior suites of 33 and 44m2 each with its own terrace. The construction of building, which was designed by Saada and Nadjari architects, is jointly lead by Primosud and Perimmo. The building works and interior design and layout represent a global investment of 35 million euros. Managed by Eric Robert, the 44-year-old general Manager, the hotel will employ over 100 staff and will indirectly generate or help another 50 employees. Julie Fuillet, a young Parisian architect specializing in deluxe hotels, designed the decoration of the bedrooms and public areas by interpreting the contemporary symbols of the city and the Provencal region. The designer Christian Ghion has designed several pieces of furniture as well as a fountain that will be installed in front of the hotel. Last but not least, contemporary artwork will be exhibited at the hotel.

The catering has been entrusted to the renowned chef, Jean-Marc Banzo. Closely associated with the creation of hotel from the ground up, the chef from Le Clos de la Violette in Aix-en-Provence and La Villa Madie in Cassis will offer a gourmet experience in two different environments – Le Clos, a gourmet restaurant seating 40 and Le Comptoir du Clos, a brasserie seating 140 guests that opens onto the hotel terrace. The hotel Renaissance Aix-en-Provence also features a landscaped garden of 10,764 square feet and a relaxation area with an indoor pool, gym, a steam room and body sculpting rooms with the possibility to book treatments in the guestʼs room. A meeting space covering 4,736 square feet, split into seven rooms, offers a personalized welcome for seminars, conferences and special events.
