Famed Chocolatier Valrhona Opens Cité du Chocolat

NEW YORK, NY, February 3, 2013 — Legendary chocolatier Valrhona opened its Cité du Chocolat in October 2013, a new center open to the general public offering an inside glimpse into the mysterious world of chocolate-making.

Established in 1922 in Tain l’Hermitage, a village in the Drôme County, Valrhona is a purveyor of exceptional chocolates to the most prestigious gastronomy professionals and to gourmet enthusiasts. La Cité du Chocolat aims to showcase the brand’s artisanal excellence and visitors step into a fascinating world of ingredients, aromas and flavors, professions and skills, creativity and tradition, as they learn about the entire process from the cocoa farms to artisans’ kitchen labs.

La Cité du Chocolat offers various interactive experiences, including visits to: the sensory studio; the recipe bar; cacao farm; the chocolate factory; the chef’s Kitchen Lab, where visitors can become a chocolatier or pastry chef for a day; a series of chocolate workshops; and finally a selection of chocolate artworks.
