Paris is the World’s Top City for Quality of Life

Press release

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Mori Memorial Foundation’s Institute for Urban Strategies in Japan has named Paris the world’s top city for quality of life. Paris can also pride itself on being No. 1 as regards ease of access, with excellent air and rail links into the city and a high-density, high-quality urban transport network. The French capital’s other strong points are the quality of its tourism infrastructure, such as hotels and a diverse range of shops and restaurants, as well as good cultural interaction, notably the wealth of the offer (a significant number of events and museums). All these strengths consolidate Paris’s place as the world’s top tourist destination.

The annual Global Power City Index ranks the competitiveness of the world’s big cities using 70 indicators divided into 6 categories: Economy, R&D, Cultural Interaction, Quality of Life, Environment and Accessibility. The purpose of the report is to measure the ‘magnetism’ of cities, i.e. their power to attract both individuals and enterprises. It also highlights their ability to mobilize their assets and promote their strengths.
