FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE March 12, 2015 Antibes Juan-les-Pins’ Jazz à Juan festival, the longest running jazz festival in Europe, has announced its 2015 programming to take place July 10-16. Headlining the 55th incarnation of the yearly festival are some of music’s biggest living legends including: Herbie Hancock and Chick Corea, Carlos Santana, and Lionel Richie. Jazz à Juan is a leading member of the International Jazz Festivals Organization that seeks to unite the premier jazz festivals in the world. The festival serves as an integral part of European and international jazz heritage, promoting all forms of the genre such as: swing, be-bop and post-be-bop, gospel and roots, soul, funk and rock as well as African, European and American, contemporary and “New Orleans” styles. Additionally, organizers of Jazz à Juan have worked to curate musical experiences and performances that are progressive and even avant-garde. Established in 1960 by musician Sidney Bechet, who appreciated the village of Antibes as much as jazz, Jazz à Juan is credited with popularizing jazz music and festivals across the European continent. Claude Nobs once commented that the summer celebration inspired him to eventually launch the Montreux Jazz Festival. From the beginning, the jazz festival in Juan-les-Pins was embraced by icons such as Miles Davis, Ella Fitzgerald, Charles Mingus, Ray Charles, Wynton Marsalis and Sarah Vaughan; all of whom graced the stage through the years. Tickets are now on sale for the festival and can be purchased online or through the Tourism & Convention Bureau of Antibes. VIP ticket holders during the festival week, have access to the Les Jardins du Jazz at Plage Les Ambassadeurs where there are nightly dinners and complimentary as well as reserved box seats facing the stage.
