ALSACE Hotel and Restaurant Villa René Lalique Wingen-sir-Moder (Alsace) Opened: September 18, 2015 www.villarenelalique.com The historical villa of René Lalique – the artist internationally renowned for his jewelery, but also his glass and crystal collectors’ items – has been transformed into an exclusive six-suite hotel and gourmet restaurant. Look for the lacquered bed frames and nightstands, as well as desks with crystal inlays, all individually designed for the art deco–inspired rooms that are also decorated with items from the Lalique Maison furniture collection. The restaurant is under the guidance of Jean-Georges Klein, the former three-star chef from the Arnsbourg in Baerenthal. AQUITAINE Hôtel Home Arcachon (Aquitaine) Reopened: 2014 www.home-arcachon.com Housed in an attractive 19th-century building at the heart of Arcachon, the intimate Hôtel Home was entirely renovated in time for the 2014 season. The owners have turned it into a haven of peace and quiet, designed to induce relaxation and intimacy. After being purchased by the Naos Group, the Regina underwent a total renovation through which the original art deco now meshes perfectly with contemporary touches. Open for several decades, the hotel has just undergone a complete transformation. Its 12 renovated rooms are now all luxuriously equipped, while the discreet upscale décor respects the authentic nature of this 18th-century mansion house. The creation of a ground-floor patio is the other major element of the renovation work.
